The long-delayed verdict in the case of former fashion tycoon Peter Nygard is expected to be announced on Monday.

Former fashion mogul Peter Nygard is expected to be sentenced today for sexual assault, after repeated delays in the case for months.

The 83-year-old was convicted last November on four charges, but the sentencing process has been dragged on for several reasons, including Nygard’s difficulty hiring a lawyer.

The verdict was postponed again last month because one of the prosecutors was abroad.

Nygard’s newest lawyer is seeking a six-year prison sentence, citing her client’s age and health problems, while prosecutors had asked for a 15-year sentence.

Nygard, who once headed a successful women’s clothing company, is accused of sexually assaulting multiple women at his company’s Toronto headquarters between the 1980s and the mid-2000s.

He was ultimately convicted of four counts of sexual assault but acquitted of a fifth count, as well as a charge of unlawful confinement.
