Suspect involved in Shawnee crash steals car, nearly hits officer before arrest

SHAWNEE, Kan. (KCTV) – Police arrested a stolen vehicle suspect on Friday after he was accused of multiple crimes.

The Shawnee Police Department reported that officers, along with the Shawnee Fire Department, had responded to a crash about 11:40 am near K-7 Highway and 47th Street.

As first responders investigated the injury crash, the police department indicated that a suspect was involved in the crash ran away from the scene.

Someone reported to police that the suspect had their vehicle stolen near the crash scene. That suspect then nearly struck a Shawnee police officer with the stolen vehicle, a press release stated.

The officer was not injured.

Law enforcement investigated the stolen car suspect and took them into custody in Olathe, Kansas.
